What is Life Skills Camp?

By students. For students.
Actually useful.

You know that moment when your parents ask you to do something around the house and you just… quietly Google it first? Yeah. This fixes that.

Real talk — nobody taught you this stuff. Not your parents, not your school, not anyone. You’ve been figuring it out as you go, or asking for help every time, or quietly avoiding it. That’s what this is for.

The first session is Home Skills. Four hours. Seven chores. You walk in not knowing. You walk out knowing. No lecture, no worksheet — just doing the real thing with someone walking you through every step.

📋

Printed cheat sheet

Every skill and pro tip on one sheet. Not a worksheet — a real guide you’ll keep.

🏅

Certificate of completion

A record of 7 real chores mastered. Something to actually hang up.

🗺️

Camp Passport stamp

Each session adds a stamp. More skills sessions coming — collect them all.

I would never say this to his face. But fine — it was actually kind of useful. I didn’t know like half of this stuff. Neither does anyone in my grade. Don’t repeat that. Especially not to him.

Session 1: Home Skills

7 chores. One morning.

01
🛏️
Foundations

Making your bed

The right sequence — fitted sheet, flat, duvet, pillowcases. Plus why this 3-minute habit changes how your whole morning feels.

02
🧺
Laundry

Laundry, all 3 stages

Sort → wash → dry → fold. Settings, detergent amounts, what to air-dry, and the fitted sheet fold. (Yes, it can be done neatly.)

03
🍽️
Kitchen

Dishwasher done right

Top rack vs. bottom, which direction to face things, and what never goes in. It’s a longer list than you think.

04
🧹
Cleaning

Vacuuming & floors

Overlapping strokes, right attachments, canister maintenance. Speed is the enemy. Slow down and do it once.

05
🧼
Cleaning

Countertop cleaning

Spray → wait 30 seconds → wipe. The dwell time kills germs. Most people skip it. Baking soda for the stuck stuff.

06
🗑️
Home

Trash vs. recycling

The greasy pizza box debate, settled. What you can and can’t recycle, and how to replace a bag correctly.

07
👔
Laundry

Ironing without disasters

Heat settings by fabric. What never gets ironed directly. How to iron a collar. Safety always first.

📋
Yours to keep

Take-home cheat sheet

Every skill, rule, and pro tip printed on one sheet. Not a worksheet. A real guide you’ll actually use.

Sai Gulati

Rising 11th Grade · Life Skills Camp Founder & Lead Instructor

Sai started this because he noticed something nobody talks about. Nearly every student his age — himself included — had never actually been taught how to do basic life stuff. Not because they weren’t capable. Because nobody showed them.

“I started this because I realized I had no idea how to do any of this stuff either. I was a solid student and completely clueless at home. Figured I wasn’t the only one.”

— Sai Gulati, Founder

He built the curriculum from scratch, ran a pilot, and refined every activity based on what actually worked. He teaches the way you’d actually want to be taught — straight to the point, honest, no attitude, and genuinely fun. He earns SSSAS community service hours for every session he runs.

By completing payment, Parent agrees to all of the following on behalf of themselves and the Participant:

1

Acknowledgment of Activities

Parent understands that Life Skills Camp sessions involve hands-on household activities including, but not limited to, operation of washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, irons, vacuum cleaners, and the use of cleaning products and chemicals. Parent acknowledges that these activities carry inherent risks of injury.

2

Assumption of Risk

Parent knowingly and voluntarily assumes all risks — known and unknown — associated with the Participant’s attendance at and participation in Life Skills Camp sessions, including but not limited to physical injury, illness, property damage, or any other harm arising directly or indirectly from participation in program activities, travel to or from the session venue, or presence on the session premises.

3

Release of All Claims

In consideration of the Participant’s admission to and participation in Life Skills Camp, Parent, on behalf of themselves, the Participant, and their respective heirs and legal representatives, hereby fully and irrevocably releases, waives, and discharges the Released Parties from any and all claims, demands, damages, actions, causes of action, or suits of any kind — whether known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated — arising from or related to the Participant’s participation in Life Skills Camp, including any claims arising from the negligence of the Released Parties.

4

Indemnification

Parent agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) brought by or on behalf of the Participant or any third party arising from the Participant’s participation in Life Skills Camp.

5

Supervision Acknowledgment

Parent acknowledges that a responsible adult will be present at all sessions. Parent further understands that the program takes place at a private residential property in Alexandria, Virginia, and that the venue is a private home — not a licensed childcare or recreational facility.

6

Voluntary Participation

Parent confirms that participation is entirely voluntary and that neither Parent nor the Participant has been coerced or pressured into registering for or attending Life Skills Camp.

7

Authority to Execute

Parent represents and warrants that they are the legal parent or guardian of the Participant, that they have full legal authority to execute this agreement on behalf of the Participant, and that the Participant is a minor under the age of 18.

8

Parent agrees to bear all costs associated with such emergency treatment and transportation.

4

Emergency Contact

Parent has provided a valid secondary emergency contact during registration. Parent confirms this person is aware of their designation, is authorized to make decisions on behalf of the Participant if Parent cannot be reached, and will be reachable on the day of the session.

5
